What to do if Panic Takes Hold

Panic attacks are extremely unpleasant. I recently underwent cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html treatment
at one of the finest Dublin dentists and still I was overcome with an irrational fear over what
turned out to be a very straightforward procedure over a relatively short period of time. My no doubt shocking behaviour could have forced the poor man
to put his buying a dental practice guide, but apparently it frequently occurs. For all those who
sometimes succumb to panic, here are some self help tips.

  1. Read up on your panic disorder. Knowledge is power.
  2. Avoid tobacco, caffeine and other stimulants.
  3. Learn deep breathing techniques to counter hyperventilation. Taking control of your breathing will enable you to take control of the encompassing
situation and give you the self-belief to calm yourself.
  4. Teach yourself relaxation techniques. Yoga and meditation can lead to a strengthening of the body’s relaxation reflex to heightened stress.
Incorporating these into the routine of your everyday life will bring about a stronger sense of calm and inner control.

But don’t keep it all to yourself. Let others in and discuss what causes your anxiety. My dentist ordeal would have been far less if I had simply had
the nerve to share it. Your condition is nothing to be ashamed of and must not be bottled up.
